Traditional Ashtanga Yoga Shala Phuket (TAYSP) teaches from the clubhouse of the Land & House Park estate in Chalong, in the south of the island. It is a dedicated Ashtanga shala rather than a general studio, and it suits visitors who already have a practice and want to keep it going while in Phuket.
Mysore-style self-practice runs Monday to Friday from 7:30am, with a teacher adjusting and guiding each student through the series at their own pace. On Saturday there is a led primary series class for experienced practitioners. Sundays and moon days are rest days. The shala also offers pranayama and meditation, and runs 200- and 300-hour Ashtanga teacher trainings.
A walk-in Mysore session costs ฿600. Five classes cost ฿1,800 and ten cost ฿2,900, both valid for about a month, and a month of unlimited practice is ฿4,000. The doors close at 8am, so arrive before then. It is inside a gated estate: turn off Chaofa Road just before Wat Tai, sign in at the security post and drive to the clubhouse.
Prices and timetables change. Check with the studio before you go.
Popular classes fill up, so book ahead where you can.
