Serenity Eco Guesthouse & Yoga has been part of Canggu since 2 January 1999. It was founded by French-born Daniel Chieppa and his Balinese wife Yatna, and is a smoke- and alcohol-free guesthouse on Jalan Nelayan, about 150 metres from Canggu's best-known surf break. It is popular with surfers and travelling yogis, and the open-air shala is open to non-guests.
The centre runs nine yoga classes a day, covering vinyasa (including creative and themed flows), hatha, Ashtanga, yin, restorative, Kundalini, meditation and sound sessions. Classes are booked through the online yoga schedule. Students aged 10 to 16 get 50% off walk-in passes; children under 10 cannot join classes. Props such as mats, bolsters and blocks are provided.
On site there is a vegan restaurant, a spa offering healing and detox therapies, and an eco-guesthouse with permaculture gardens. Serenity also runs a yoga teacher training and workshops, and sells yoga packages and memberships. Check the website for current walk-in rates.
